8th paragraph:
"Bear in mind that almost every Chinese family has been impacted in some way by the loss of a loved one because of the one-child per family policy. Virtually everyone in China is missing a son or a daughter, or a brother or a sister because some Communist Party hack found out that their wife or mother was pregnant with an "illegal" second or third child, arrested them for the "crime" of being pregnant, and took them in against their will for an abortion."

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY / FREEDOM OF RELIGION

OBAMACARE RULING

The United States Supreme Court will rule in June on the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, popularly known as ObamaCare. How it rules may have grave consequences for religious liberty.

If the Supreme Court knocks out the entire legislation, then the issue of forcing Catholic non-profits to pay for abortion-inducing drugs in their insurance coverage is eliminated. If it knocks out the individual mandate, but keeps the rest of the legislation, then we are still stuck with the religious liberty problem. Why? Because the high court agreed to accept this case before the Health and Human Services mandate forcing Catholic entities to violate Church teachings was issued. Of course, it the entire legislation is upheld, we are also stuck with this problem.

No matter what happens, we are still faced with a federal government that has decided to define religious institutions as those that hire and serve people of their own faith. This interpretation essentially deprives Catholic social service agencies, hospitals and colleges of a religious exemption from burdensome federal laws: one of the great things about Catholic institutions is that they do not discriminate. And now we are being punished for not doing so!

All we are asking for is to be left alone. For over 200 years, the federal government has never tried to redefine what constitutes a religious entity. Until now. How the high court rules will affect the nature of the bishop's response and what we can expect next.

Definition of-

ANTI-PEOPLE PEOPLE: proponents of birth control (contraception).

Thanks to Melinda Gates, who recently declared the "global expansion of family planning her life's work," the women of the developing world are going to be showered with abortifacient contraceptives. These powerful, steroidal drugs will be injected and ingested by tens of millions over the next few years, reports PRI's undercover correspondent at the London Summit on Family Planning, doing incalculable damage to their health. Prophecies of Humanae Vitae

You may be forgiven for not knowing that today, July 25, is the 44th anniversary of encyclical Humanae Vitae.

Who, after all, is going to remind you? Not the secular media, which scoffs at the idea that men and women can practice self-control in matters of sex. No, they will not breathe a word about Pope Paul VI's courageous rejection of sterilization and contraception as contravening "God's loving design" for marriage and the Natural Law.

Nor will the day be feted within the Church. All too many bishops and priests ppass over the issue of contraception in embarrassed silence, unwilling or unable to explain to those in the pew why, in the words of one of my former CCD students, "If the Church won't allow us to get abortions, why won't it at least allow us to contracept?" (I proceeded to tell her, educating both the other students and a couple of other teachers in the process.)

Yet Pope Paul VI's beautiful, prophetic, and oh-so-countercultural encyclical leaves no doubt that the Pill and the sexual revolution that it sparked would divide spouses from one another, undermining both the unitive and the procreative functions of marriage.

While Humanae Vitae earned Pope Paul VI the enmity of the world and, sadly, of many Catholics, he also received the approbation of saints. The last letter that Padre Pio ever wrote - shortly before his own death on 23 September 1968 - was to the Pope.

September 12, 1968

Your Holiness,

...I know that your heart is suffering much these days...for the lack of obedience of some, even Catholics, to the high teaching that you, assisted by the Holy Spirit and in the name of God, are giving us. I offer you my prayers and daily sufferings as a small but sincere contribution on the part of the least of your sons in order that God may give you comfort with his Grace to follow the straight and painful way in the defense of eternal truth, which never changes with the passing of the years. Also, in the name of my spiritual children and the Prayer Groups, I thank you for your clear and decisive words that you especially pronounced in the last encyclical "Humanae Vitae"; and I reaffirm my faith, my unconditional obedience to your illuminated directions.

May God grant victory to the truth, peace to his Church, tranquility to the world, health and prosperity to your Holiness so that, once these fleeting doubts are dissipated, the Kingdom of God may triumph in all hearts, guided by your apostolic work as Supreme Pastor of all Christianity.

Humbly yours,

Padre Pio, Capuchin
San Giovanni Rotondo

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last letter I received from our Founder, Fr. Paul Marx, OSB, shortly before his death in 2010, also dealt with this great and misunderstood teaching.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Steve,

On July 25, 1968, Pope Paul VI's Humanae Vitae reaffirmed the Catholic teaching on life, love and human sexuality. In that document, he listed the consequences of life lived outside Catholic teaching. He predicted that:

1. Contraception would lead to conjugal infidelity.
2. Contraceptive practice would lead to a "general lowering of morality."
3. Contraception would lead men to cease respecting woman in their totality and would cause them to treat women as "mere instruments of selfish enjoyment" rather than as cherished partners.
4. And finally, widespread acceptance of contraception by couples would lead to a massive imposition of contraception by unscrupulous governments.

In other words, Pope Paul VI predicted that contraception would evolve from "a lifestyle choice" into a weapon of mass destruction. How dreadfully lhis prophecy has been vindicated by population control and coercive sterilization programs, fertility reduction quotas, and the promotion of abortion literally everywhere in the world.

Contraception's destruction of the integrity of the marital act-as unitive and procreative-has dire consequences for society and for our souls. Contraception, in other words, is a rejection of God'd view of reality. It is a wedge driven into the most intimate sphere of communion known to man outside of the Holy Sacrament of the Mass. It is a degrading poison that withers life and love both in marriage and in society.

By breaking the natural and divinely ordained connection between sex and procreation, the Pope saw that women and men-but especially men-would focus on the hedonistic possibilities of sex. People would cease seeing sex as something that was intrinsically linked to new life and to the sacrament of marriage.

Does anyone doubt that this is where we find ourselves today?

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Father Paul Marx, OSB
St. John's Abbey

America Needs a Baby Boom

7th paragraph of link:
It is clear that the myth of overpopulation has played a part, a big part, in driving down the birth rate. The vicious anti-people propaganda of the radical environmental movement has also played a part. When you teach young people that babies are vermin--as some of these groups do--you naturally discourage childbearing. When you teach them that the birth of a baby means the death of a whale, you encourage abortion. Children must be taught that they, and the children that they will one day have, are the ultimate resource, the one resource you cannot do without.

last line of link:
After all, they are investing in the future of America in the most fundamental way: by investing in the future generation.

With fertility rates well below the replacement level of 2.1 children per woman, many nations are facing serious economic collapse as they will soon be unable to find sufficient young workers to maintain their economies.

TO VOTE PRO-LIFE IS A VOTE FOR ECONOMIC PROSPERITY

from paragraphs 7 and 8 of link:
China's lower birth rates have a different cause. The Chinese people want more children, but the government for the past three decades has said no. The one-child policy has decimated China's younger generaions, and created a society where the young are not replacing the old.

While China currently has the world's second largest economy, all bets are off if the birth rate remains depressed for another generation. The economy will follow the falling numbers of young workers downward.

ABORTION IS NEVER NECESSARY TO SAVE THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER

first paragraph of link:
New studies show that those who argue that abortion is sometimes necessary to "save the life of the mother," and that it lowers maternal mortality are flat out wrong. Abortion does not improve maternal health.
